Building toward a more practical relationship between technology and the natural world.
At 14, I appeared on the front page of The Globe and Mail in a story about Canada's future. I spoke about light pollution, kindness and protecting the green spaces around us.
David Attenborough, David Suzuki, Jane Goodall and Steve Irwin shaped how I think about our relationship with nature.
My first idea for Green Horizon Ventures emerged while I was in India, where I started thinking about how technology could help address environmental problems at scale. The idea has gone through several versions since, and I have closed two of them. The motivation has stayed the same.
02 / Background
Learning by doing.
I came to building through work. I have worked in wireless sales and leadership, logistics, hospitality, and alpine operations across Canada, New Zealand, Japan, and Australia.
Those jobs taught me to pay attention to what happens when plans meet people, weather, and logistics.
I bring that experience to environmental technology.

Three principles.
Start with the problem.
I want to understand what is happening before I decide what technology belongs in the solution.
Talk to the people involved.
I test ideas against the conditions they work in.
Let the evidence change my mind.
An idea has to earn its place before I commit to it. If the evidence points elsewhere, I follow it.

Technology in service of a living planet.
Rainforest Connection, Flash Forest and The Ocean Cleanup influence my thinking. Each applies technology to a real environmental problem in a different way. I am interested in technology that helps people understand, protect, and restore natural systems. Solarpunk shapes how I picture the result: technology, human systems, and nature working together.
